Sharky VS Da Gym
I hit the gym for the first time yesterday. I did 1.5 which included 20 straight minutes on the elliptical, upper body weight lifting and some “core” stuff.
Today I head back for the same except that I will be doing lower body instead of upper body stuff.
I did pretty well through the entire routine but then when I got home, I felt like I was going to “throw up”, “puke”, “toss chunks” or whatever you want to call it. I started getting sore and then this morning, I can’t hardly bend my legs…..I LIKE IT!!
I really liked it a lot more than I thought I would; the guy that owns the place is going through everything with me as a “temporary personal trainer” and he is really nice, funny and very easy going.
It’s really hard for someone my size to go to the gym and I think he understood that. He introduced me to some of the folks and they are all nice as well. I’m really comfortable at this gym and I think that is one of the biggest factors in being successful.
I impressed myself yesterday because I did some things that I didn’t think I would be able to do. I did something that looks like a “floating set up”. You lock your feet into this machine and then lay back and you are basically just laying there…on nothing.
I did 4 sets of those and did around 10 each time.
I have already dropped 3 lbs. Hellz Yeah!!!
Best of luck to everyone!!

Congratulations…Good Job
Good to see you up and at ‘em. That soreness can feel good, can’t it? You know you have done something! Take care. My d-i-l- Allison is in Lexington for surgery tomorrow. UK Med Center. Wing a prayer up for her, would you please? Hugs, Marge
Isn’t the soreness wonderful!! Belonging to a gym that has friendly people will be a big help. The staff at the gym I go to are very nice and very helpful and that’s a big thing for me that they make you feel comfortable. The “floaty thing” sounds cool. Enjoy the soreness and the rewards that follow.

I am so genuinely happy for you Sharky. I understand what your saying about being overweight and in a gym. The looks from people can really hurt. But you are so strong and are overcoming those fears. GOOD FOR YOU!!!
I’m so happy I can be one of those who watch the New Sharky this year!!!

LOL Reminds me of the first time I ever went to a gym… little hole in the wall place and I thought I was going to puke on the trainers feet while he was standing there explaining things to me after working me out. LOVED IT!
